There are a number of options to choose from when considering a connection to the Atlas system
- Internet
- Direct Dial
- ISDN
- Leased Line
- Integrated Web Tracking
In general, IEC IT would recommend that clients would use the website, where possible.
If this facility is not sufficient, then a client can choose one of the other connection options.
Please be aware that the cost of the solution increases as the options go from 1 to 5, but the functionality increases also.
To further discuss these options, please contact your account representative.
Internet
IEC provide limited tracking and inventory information via our web site: www.iec-logistics.com
This service is suitable for clients who need limited information and reporting facilities.
Other than Internet access charges, there is no additional charge for this service.
IEC's IT will provide the client with a login ID and password to access this service on request.
Direct Dial
Using a dial up modem and terminal emulation software such as Hyper-terminal, Reflections, or Procomm Plus.
This service is suitable for clients who need full information and reporting facilities for a single user.
The client will incur charges from their PPT which will be equivalent to a voice call to IEC's node.
IEC's IT will provide the client with a login ID and password and a PSTN telephone number to dial into.
The client should set up their software to dial in using 7 data bits 1 stop bit and even parity.
ISDN
IEC can provide access to our ATLAS system using routers via ISDN. This service is set up on a per client basis.
This service is suitable for clients who need full information and reporting facilities for many users and can also allow for printing facilities. It also allows for file transfer for EDI purposes, if required.
As IEC must provide equipment and lines for each connection, the client is required to make a one-off capital contribution towards the cost of this service. As is the case with all dial up connections, if the client is connected for more than 3 hours per day, it may make economic sense to use a leased line solution.
IEC's IT will provide the client with login IDs and passwords and an ISDN number to connect to.
IEC's IT will work with the customer's IT staff to implement this type of connection.
