Welcome to the special Christmas edition of our eNewsletter.
We have decided this year in lieu of sending Christmas cards to
extend our seasonal greetings using the newsletter and to make a
donation in lieu to Milford Hospice in Limerick.
So regardless of whether you are in the Northern hemisphere
drinking wine in front of an open fire or in the Southern
hemisphere cooking shrimps on an open barbecue during the festive season,
we would like to take this opportunity, on behalf of all the staff
of Flextronics Logistics, to wish you and yours a very happy
Christmas and a prosperous New Year.
Feedback on the newsletter can be sent to newsletter@ie.flextronics.com.
We also invite you to visit our website
www.flextronics-logistics.com which is updated regularly.

The challenges of international trade compliance and
inefficiencies in existing distribution networks are 2
leading reasons to outsource.
As a result of the globalisation of the economy, there is
a growing emphasis on the international trade component of
manufacturing and distribution. As the supply chain gets
global, issues around compliance become progressively
more complex.
If you are operating a distribution network, it can often make
sense to let a Third Party Logistics(3PL) provider design the network,
build the facilities to meet your needs and hire the employees to run them. In
that scenario a company can devote its resources to
managing the information and metrics utilised by the 3PL.

Christmas is a time when kids tell Santa what they want and adults pay for it. Deficits are when adults tell the government what they want and their kids pay for it.

FLEXLogistics at Linwood have been providing a Vendor
Managed Inventory (VMI Hub) model for a leading global Electronics
manufacturer for a number of years. Although this operations solution met the immediate
needs of inbound raw material supply to manufacturing, it required
a reduction in order fulfillment cycle and greater materials
visibility.
Using our extensive experience of the clients operational needs, FLEXLogistics
entered into a joint project to evaluate the material flows and excessive inventories
in the supply chain pipeline. This major project initiative required
extensive redevelopments in our core IT connectivity and key business processes.
The resultant solution provided our customer with a reduction in the need
for their internal warehouse storage of inbound materials in
support of build to order (BTO) manufacturing. In addition it
eliminated the previous requirement for duplicate keying of data
entry on both SAP and our own ATLAS WMS inventory system. This
enabled 'real time' transactional based visibility of all materials
(static and in transit).

FLEXLogistics Raheen, manages the receipt, storage and issue of product for
135+ customers with approximately 20,000 unique part numbers. In order to meet
this business requirement and consistently meet the best in class
quality and inventory standards, FLEXLogistics had to transform its operation
from a pallet in, pallet out front flushing process (issue and pick) to a
pallet in carton out back flushing process (pick and issue).
It was identified that a key component in the success of this transformation
would be the introduction of a paperless RF scanner based picking process.
With this in mind, FLEXLogistics developed a selection criterion and embarked
on a lengthy period of research and testing. Once completed FLEXLogistics Raheen
decided upon the Psion Teklogix 7535 range of scanners. The Psion 7535 is a
rugged handheld scanner designed to specifically perform in such environments
as warehouses.
The Psion 7535 scanners and supporting infrastructure were installed by www.heaveyrf.com. Heavey RF currently support over 130 handheld
units, wireless infrastructure and wireless security for FLEXLogistics in both
Limerick and Dublin and have worked with FLEXLogistics on developing new
methodologies for delivering mission critical data to the right place at the right time.

for tracking and billing purposes). With this requirement in mind,

aids to assist receiving operators when capturing customer specific information. The
FLEXLogistics receiving process is 100% scanner based which ensures
